The DIY Robotic Arm Kit with Wired Control is a motorised arm kit for kids aged 13 and above. It runs on 4 x D batteries and uses a wired control panel with dedicated buttons for each joint. The gripper opens and closes to pick objects weighing up to 100 grams. Each joint moves independently, giving the arm multiple degrees of freedom that mirror how real industrial robotic arms operate at factory scale.

One trade-off to know before buying: D batteries are not included. Keep four fully charged D cells ready before starting assembly. The wired control means the operator stays physically tethered to the arm during use, unlike wireless variants. This is actually an advantage for learning — wired control makes the cause-and-effect relationship between button press and joint movement immediately obvious to first-time builders.
